Another step forward has come regarding AC Milan’s plan to build a new stadium in San Donato as a Council vote was held last night.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, the City Council voted in favour of the urban transformation intervention in the San Francesco area of San Donato Milanese last night.

Now that particular step has been ticked off, Milan will move towards trying to secure a program agreement as quickly as possible. The documentation will soon be sent to the Lombardy Region.

Speaking to Il Cittadino, the president of Milan – Paolo Scaroni – confirmed the commitment of the Rossoneri to build in San Donato despite meeting with Mayor Beppe Sala about renovating San sIRO.

“We listened to Mayor Sala’s proposal, reiterating that our priority remains the San Donato Milanese project,” he said.

As a reminder, the press release from last month regarding the San Donato plan outlined the five stages before ground can be broken, which started on 24 January when the Council declared the proposal viable.

The City Council then expressed their opinion on the launch of the Program Agreement, and the aim for either later this year or early next year is to get a Program Agreement.
