The Charles De Ketelaere saga has been going on for quite a while now and just this morning, it seems Milan had taken steps back in their pursuit. However, the Rossoneri are still confident of reaching a deal.
Milan are looking for a playmaker on the market and they have identified De Ketelaere as their No.1 choice. Negotiations are ongoing with Club Brugge but an agreement is yet to be reached on the transfer fee, with the Rossoneri offering €32m including bonuses.
As per MilanNews, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are convinced that they can reach an agreement, despite the recent resistance of the Belgian side. The latter are reportedly asking for €35m and thus the distance is not huge.
This evening, an important signal (as the report describes it) arrived as De Ketwelaere has been excluded from Club Brugge’s squad for the game against Genk. It’s a clear indication that a move is on the cards and the player has made it known that he wants Milan.

Keep declining a selection Charles. You deserve Milan. Brugge is treating you like a product, not nice with a bid over 30M.
He will end up in Leeds. Brugge want 35m and they are willing to pay more. I read somewhere they are even gonna raise there initial bid to 40m. Game over!! At this rate we will sign players on loan at deadline day if we even make signings.
It’s kind of strange that that we can’t just get a player who’s obviously our number one target for a 5M difference; on the other hand I do think Milan’s 30M offer is more than fair for the player in the Jupiler League market. Joshua Zirkzee scored two more goals than CDK and had the same number of assists last season in the Jupiler League, playing one game less than CDK, and he’s 21 years old, same as CDK. It’s been reported Bayern would ask 10-15M to let him go. I do think CDK is a fantastic prospect but Brugge’s 35-37M asking price is sort of a Premier League only tag, and too high for me. However if M&M are so convinced he’s the player the project needs, that 5M difference seems to be causing more problems than it should.
I agree. 30m is a very fair offer. I think they’ll get the deal done at that price.
CDK probably doesn’t worth more than 30M but man, this is a pretty pathetic mercato, considering we’re the champion of Italy. Very late M&M renewal, loss of Botman and now, we can’t even strike a deal for just 3M gap for our main target. The new Milan stadium is also probably just a dream.
But this dream is different, we all know that we have to do wisely, now day you can brought 50m player with just smaller amount of money
“Loss” of Botman was a blessing. Makes no sense to splash out 30M€ on a CB we don’t necessary need.
No self respecting fan will follow all this anymore.
