MN: The latest on Duarte’s future as Milan need answers for next season

By Isak Möller -

One of the mysteries of AC Milan’s season, certainly, is Leo Duarte. The Brazilian centre-back, who arrived from Flamengo last summer, was signed to complete the defensive department and add depth to the squad.

Usually, at this point of the season, you can evaluate the signings made last summer. However, also due to the Coronavirus outbreak, this is very difficult in Duarte’s case. In fact, he has been out with an injury since November 2019.

As MilanNews.it writes, arriving for a total of €11m, Rossoneri fans were very curious to see Duarte in action. However, just like the management, they haven’t seen enough of the player yet to make a verdict.

In the five appearances he made before the injury, he showed both positive and negative signs. In other words, there are still too many question marks and Milan are hoping that next season can provide us with some answers.

As a result of the injury, and the performances of Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia, Duarte will start next season as a reserve. With a new manager expected, he will have to demonstrate his qualities to be able to change the pecking order.
