Despite an obvious need that must be addressed, there is still the sense that everything is very up in the air regarding the rest of AC Milan’s window.
According to MilanNews, technical director Paolo Maldini has some money to spend on a central defender. It isn’t a huge amount, but it is enough to give Stefano Pioli a valuable reinforcement, while some more luxurious names such as Wesley Fofana and Nikola Milenkovic have been crossed off the list by necessity.
There are at least four names on the wish list at present, and the player at the top of it is Takehiro Tomiyasu. Bologna want €25m in guaranteed cash for the Japan international, who can also act as a right-back if necessary. At these figures the operation will struggle to take off, however.
The other three names are German Pezzella of Fiorentina, Nacho Fernandez of Real Madrid and Matija Nastasic of Schalke. For the former it will be necessary to deal with Fiorentina, Los Blancos seem willing to let the Spaniard go on loan.
For Nastasic, on the other hand, it is possible to set up a sale on a loan with option to buy. However, the report adds to beware of a surprise name, a Mister X who has not yet jumped into the media spotlight.
