MN: Why Bonaventura was not called up for game against Lecce

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will host Lecce at San Siro on Sunday night as Stefano Pioli takes charge of his first game, but they will do so without Giamcomo Bonaventura.

Pioli officially named his 22-man squad for the game earlier on Sunday, with Bonaventura’s exclusion being the only real shock.

However, as MilanNews.it note, it is a precautionary measure from Milan as the midfielder has suffered a muscle strain in his left thigh.

Club doctors do not wish to aggravate it any further and as such are taking a cautious approach, recommending that he was not called up for the game.

Bonaventura was in the starting XI for the first time since Milan played Real Betis in the Europa League on October 25 2018 earlier this month in the win against Genoa.
