AC Milan director Geoffrey Moncada has stated that the club are ‘very happy’ with Sergio Conceicao, as well as striker Luka Jovic.
Milan are nine points off the Champions League places and they exited Europe at the hands of Feyenoord, which led to widespread reports that there would be big changes at the end of the season.
One of the major alterations should be the appointment of a new sporting director, though doubts have emerged about who might arrive given how long it is taking to hire one.
In the meantime, Conceicao and Jovic were the major architects of the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg win over Inter, as the former got his tactical approach spot on and the latter scored a brace.
Moncada spoke during an interview with DAZN before kick-off in Venice and he answered questions on a number of different topics, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
How much would a possible victory in the Coppa Italia change your opinion on the season?
“We are not satisfied with the Serie A standings, we are not happy. Winning trophies is important for us, for a club like Milan: we want to win the Coppa Italia, the only chance to get to Europe.”
And Sergio Conceicao?
“We are very happy. The coach has worked hard in 3 months: he has brought a methodology and an important intensity to Milanello. We work well together.”
Is the technical project still going? Can you do without a new sporting director?
“We always talk about goals, but there are also performances that are interesting. We made mistakes in many games and we could have done more. We have a structure, we are AC Milan, there are people who work.
“We are thinking about a sporting director to develop the club, to take another step. But we have a structure and an organisation that is already important.”
What is Jovic’s contractual situation?
“Well done to him and the coach, they worked to get to this level. We have everything under control on the contract: it’s not a renewal but an option. We’re happy with him, he did well and I hope he does well again in these last games.”
Every time he opens his mouth he confirms he’s an idiot
This.
fatass eating a burger behind the keyboard says something, let’s all offer our sympathy attention.
What an odd comment!
Have you a point to make? Or are you just posting a comment on a comment section, complaining about someone else making a comment?
We are soooooo happy….
No champions league next season and maybe europa league like Fiorentina, Roma, Lazio , Bologna kind of clubs…soooo great… fantastic season. Let’s gooo !! Great management at all levels .
Ps. Wining is boring…we know…
I saw Moncada and Ibra watch the Venezia game.
Did they realized, that how much we need a very good and commanding defensive midfielder, and also a good no. 10 to bring creativity in the midfield.
Our tactic to always hanging on our left superstars flank is like an old school. Theo and Leao are not always plays superb.
Reijnders is not enough to play as no. 10, same to Pulisic. We have to give them an extra training to them, for they become a real no. 10.
If we have real no. 10 (like Rui Costa, or Kaka), then we can put 2 strikers.
Because a lone wolf striker its not effective. Abraham, Gimenez is not Ibra or Giroud. They really need support, just like Jovic said.
I think this is why Conceicao seems like he cant bring ‘his tactics’. Because this team still not move on from Pioli. Our players we have, are to accomodate Pioli’s plan and tactics.
Moncada and Ibra just want try to copy paste Milan under Maldini and Massara. And thats is totally unused.
Even if at the end, we dont hire a SD. At least Ibra and Moncada wants to hear and bring players that Conceicao want.
love your comment. Couldnt agree more!
Yep. I’ve been praying they’d play with 2 strikers for almost a decade already. Zlatan (pre ACL-rupture) & Giroud were decent as the lone strikers but would have benefited a helluva lot if they had a partner next to them. It’s time to upgrade to the 2-striker setup already.
