Moncada praises young players and Pioli after Empoli win: “Happy to work with him” – video

AC Milan’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada praised Stefano Pioli for finding solutions to deal with the injury crisis, as well as the Primavera players for adapting after the jump up.

Moncada also spoke before the game yesterday and hinted that Matteo Gabbia and Filippo Terracciano won’t be the last defenders to arrive because the squad are still short on centre-backs while Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu and Malick Thiaw are all out.

He also spoke to Milan TV after the game, which was a comfortable 3-0 win against a struggling Empoli side in the end thanks to goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Olivier Giroud (penalty) and Chaka Traorè.

On the game itself: “We started the game well and finished it well. We have to find consistency, but today was important to end the week on a high following the Coppa Italia win, so today’s win is important.”

On the young players shining: “The Primavera boys have the opportunity to work with us – they have to give more, always. When a youth player becomes a senior player they always have to do more, but we are pleased with the coach’s decision to give them playing time. I think they all came on and did well today: Chaka, Davide, Alex… it’s important we keep this up.”

On Pioli’s work: “The coach has worked hard to find various solutions and is always positive. I’m happy to work with him, I try my best to help him and I work alongside the coach every day. There’s still a demanding half a season to go.

On the away support: “The many fans who came to Empoli were here despite the rain and the cold, they’re always supporting us, in away games too. There was a great atmosphere.”

    1. Gloom.
Do you know how close Inter was to losing against Hellas, the last team on the table? At home? Hellas lost a last minute penalty in that match, did you know?
Or how late Juve won against 18th team Frosinone? Snatched a 1-2 victory at the death.
But your team is the one with all the problems of the world. We win 0-3, but no; we should all be crying it’s not 0-6.
