Moretto: Bologna closing in on loan deal for Milan midfielder – the details

Bologna are making progress towards loaning Tommaso Pobega from AC Milan in the final week of the transfer window.

As reported by Matteo Moretto on X, the Rossblu are keen on bringing the Italian midfielder to the club and have made positive contact with Milan during the week.

Pobega has been very open to the idea which has helped the speed of the negotiations. He would get the chance to play more regularly in a Champions League team.

The formula is expected to be a loan for a season with an option for Pobega to move permanently in the summer of 2025.

There is no guarantee that the move will become permanent, with Alexis Saelemaekers being a prime example as he spent last season on loan at Bologna but they didn’t exercise the purchase option as there was a change of coach.

Pobega has been deemed surplus to requirements at Milan with the midfield having swelled with the arrival of Youssouf Fofana.

Ismael Bennacer and Yacien Adli are also contenders to leave with no midfielders having been sold yet, but Manu Kone potentially arriving from Borussia Monchengladbach so there will be even less space.

Given the willingness of Pobega to move, it could be a simple transfer to conduct.

  1. Why is Milan the only big club being bullied by smaller teams in the transfer market
Atlanta and Bologna last season signed with option and yet refuse a permanent signing after using the player and now Bologna want to repeat it again

  2. I hope we not win next 5 games so this clown Fonseca and Ibra will be sacked. Ibra was great football player and that is,he is disaster at this role with some arrogance, that nobody like it.

    1. And the hate you have is based on what specifically? And let’s be a little more pragmatic – why ruin a season, when you can hope for full collapse. I hope the revenue agency or whatever is the italian version, finds fraud in our books, Redbird defaults and we lose license for Serie A/UEFA. That will be so fun to see and then I can say – IN YOUR FACE S*UM MANAGEMENT… That is what a true fan of the club is 🙂

  3. As usual, end up with option to buy. This Milan management have no skill to bargain. Only have skill to buy not to sell. They must learn from the Guru: Galliani. Haha.. 😂😂

  4. More importantly, how do we fill the homegrown quota for UEFA registration?

We are already short one (out of 4) club-trained player. If he leaves, it’ll be two. How do we fill this without falling foul?

Heck, currently, do we even have up to 8 Italy-trained players?

How do we go about this as well also with rumours of Terraciano leaving, Florenzi possibly out of the season?

    1. Oh! I forgot we have Torriani, Bartesaghi & Zeroli.
Then with our bloated squad (and with rumours of more incomings), how do we register all of them without omitting players we might need?

      🤔

  5. Samardzic, Dia, Gudmundsson, Brescianini etc are all on loan. Last season Inter took Carlos Augusto and Frattesi on loan. Lukaku has been on loan for years.

Loans with an option to buy are becoming more prevalent.
