Moretto: How much Milan could cash in next summer as loanee shines for Empoli

Devis Vasquez has started his loan spell at Empoli in the best way possible and as a result, he could be redeemed by the club next summer. For AC Milan, this would result in a nominal capital gain, as highlighted by a journalist.

Vasquez started last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and after a successful first games, he ended up on the bench. Therefore, he joined Serie B side Ascoli on loan in the January transfer window and impressed there.

This summer, he was signed by Empoli and Matteo Moretto has clarified the terms of the agreement, seeing as the Colombian goalkeeper has impressed a lot. As per the journalist, the Castellani side have the option to make the deal permanent next summer for €900k

Milan paid €810k to Guarani back in January 2023 and since they have no room for Vasquez in the first team, they believe selling is the best decision. In addition to the €900k, as Moretto concludes, the Rossoneri will also be entitled to 10% of a potential future resale in case Empoli sign him.

Depending on how he performs this season, though, one could argue that there is room in Milan’s squad as they currently have Lorenzo Torriani as the backup. Not to mention that Mike Maignan seems to be quite injury prone.

  1. Ye right. All our players excel outside of Milan. Look at Simic mor**s. Plays starter and playing great. And we have Emerson and Tomori. Even Adli already did an assist.
You need to resign! All of you.

  2. ….. and of all stupid things …… sending Kalulu to Juventus ….. when he can play as a full back or central defender. Ibra, moncada and furlani are a bunch of idiots and clowns – no doubt about that.

  3. I don’t like just slagging off at the management. But they really do seem to have made a lot of poor market decisions.
As mentioned above we sold Kalulu when he covered 2 back line positions. Three positions if you include him in option of playing 3 CBs.

We’ve left ourselves well short of Academy trained/ Nationality trained players for squad depth on our UEFA list.

Florenzi and Sportiello we knew were long term injuries but we took no action to replace them with other Nationality trained players. Instead we sold/loaned D. Maldini, Colombo & Pobega. And just kept loading up more non Italian players for the max 17 list places they can occupy.

Now we read that Vasquez is doing well and we sent him out on a contract with an option to buy for less than 1M and a 10% future resale…
And secondly with Sportiello and Maignan both injury prone. We could actually use him as cover in the first team

    1. We have 2 gk for primavera as subs and you’re whining about vasquez who only plays for Empoli because their main gk got injured.. hood enough for them for cry from playing for Milan.

As for kalulu, he wanted to leave, didn’t he?
Maldini, colombo, pobega can’t play rb or gk so what’s the point in keeping them?
