Moretto: Milan ‘closer to an agreement’ as top-level salary is offered to Maignan

Mike Maignan and AC Milan are in advanced negotiations over a contract renewal and the parties appear to be getting closer, a report claims. Great news for the Rossoneri fans, as the goalkeeper continues to be one of the best in the world.

The renewals of Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan have been in the spotlight for several months now, causing some anxiety among Milan fans. However, at least on the goalkeeper front, the Rossoneri have made great progress and are now close to an agreement.

According to Matteo Moretto for the Daily Briefing, the parties are indeed closer to an agreement but the latter is unlikely to be found in September. Milan consider Maignan a cornerstone of the team and are ready to make him one of the best-paid players in the team.

It will be on the same level as Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez, who make around €5m per year each, and this gives us an idea of what he might earn. In addition to the performances, Milan also appreciate the goalkeeper’s mentality a lot, as Moretto adds.

For now, however, both parties are focused on the upcoming week as Milan will take on Liverpool and Inter. It’s thus only natural that the negotiations have to be put to the side a bit.

    1. I had noticed the story on Football Italia as well but just checked Olympic Marseilles salaries on Capology and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is actually their highest paid player at 6.180000 mil euros pr. year so I doubt he will get the previously rumored 10 mil euros demands that he apparently was looking for.

        1. Yeah i forgot to mention it was gross so thanks for correcting that. I think we could have used him but I simply cant imagine him getting a better deal with them than with us but who knows maybe he and his momma are getting a huge sign on fee under the table 😀

          1. Well i think with how our squad structured, we can only sign 1 midfielder (so one of Fofana/Kone/Rabiot) and we choose Fofana.

We can only go for more foreign player if Bennacer/other mid player leave but that didnt happen, so we cant sign him.

      1. Yeah but still only on 9 points and with Udinese potentially taking the first place tomorrow if they can beat Parma away which would leave them at 10 points. Things certainly looks better now so if we can get a good result against Inter next week then we can hopefully put our bad start to the season behind us.
