Moretto: Milan see €13m bid for striker rejected but further talks are expected

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan seem to be serious about signing Mehdi Taremi from Porto having seen a first official bid for him turned down, a report claims.

Matteo Moretto of Relevo has given an update on what he calls the ‘Taremi–Milan affair’, starting by confirming the news from Sky last night who stated Milan have had a bid turned down.

The journalist states that the first offer from the Rossoneri management was €13m and it was rejected, with Porto wanting €25m to sell the 30-year-old striker.

There will be other contacts between the clubs to try and close the gap between offer and demand, but there is ‘nothing imminent’ at present.

Milan do not want to pay more than €20m for a player who turns 31 this month and has just a year left on his contract, while Taremi for his part has already said yes to the move.

Moretto also touches on an important factor: the signing of Taremi would prevent the arrival of Samuel Chukwueze because he would take the last non-EU spot.

    1. That’s a solid starting bid tbh. His expected value is ~18M on transfrmarket.com and he’s got a year left in his contract. There’s no reason to overpay. See if Porto wants to do business and negotiate, otherwise quickly move on. This would be Porto’s last chance to get some value and unless there’s going to be a bidding war, we could meet somewhere in the middle.

  1. If we got him for 15-18m it’s a good buy I think.

This guy can still play for 3-4 seasons at top level with his style of play.

Can use him while wait for Colombo to mature.
