Moretto: Contract renewal imminent as Leao’s ‘priority is to stay’ at Milan

Rafael Leao has been a key player for AC Milan this season and especially in the second half of the campaign. Therefore, the Rossoneri are working on the renewal which now seems close, a report claims.

The Portuguese winger has registered 13 goals and nine assists in all competitions for Milan this season, some of which were very important. Furthermore, in the last four games, he has bagged two goals and three assists.

It’s not exactly a surprise that Milan are working on a renewal, therefore, and the new deal will include a significant pay rise as well. According to Matteo Moretto, Leao’s priority is to stay at the club and a meeting has been scheduled for after the season.

There are still some details that need sorting out but it’s moving in the right direction. In fact, Milan are planning the future around Leao, which is another indication that the winger most likely will renew his deal.

  1. Hope I’m wrong but this is eerily similar to the kessie situation last summer.

Player “wants to stay” but seems to need this court case to be resolved to sign the contract? Ie if the court fines him he won’t stay?
