There continues to be a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Thiago Motta amid links with a top job, and his agent has issued some interesting comments.
Motta is doing an excellent job with Bologna, so much so that they are beginning to dream not just about a return to Europe but even being part of the biggest competition of all: the Champions League.
The Rossoblu hope to keep Motta for at least another season and they could use playing in European competitions as their main argument for doing so, but in the meantime Milan and Juventus continue to be linked.
There will be no shortage of offers as his agent Dario Canovi has confirmed. He spoke to Telelombardia about the various rumours regarding his client, insisting he is ready for a step up.
“Thiago Motta played for teams like Inter, Paris Saint Germain, Barcelona. He is used to the atmosphere of a great team, he knows how a coach must act and behave with great players. So I don’t think that when he has to go to a big club it will be a problem for him, far from it,” he said (via Radio Rossonera).
“I’m a bit like his footballing father, he’s not thinking about what will be, he knows that in two months he can decide his future with complete peace of mind.
“He will not be lacking in offers, there is not only Italy but also abroad, he is known very well in Italy but also in Spain and France, they are following him. At this moment he must think about today, about obtaining the best possible results for Bologna.”
One of the things that has been mentioned is the fact that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is friends with Motta and given he now works at Milan again this could play in the Rossoneri’s favour.
“They started with a terrible clash in an Inter-Milan match. When they went to play at PSG they became true friends, there is great respect between them, they are similar,” Canovi said.
“Real Madrid, Juventus, Milan and PSG? They are all great clubs. If a call from a big club were to arrive it would be difficult to refuse.
“Thiago Motta is a project man, he wants to participate in the construction of the project. I don’t think he would accept it if he were told ‘here, this is the team, coach it’.”

I am coming to believe Motta is of the same mentality as Arteta. The man will make the most of what he is allowed. Out of all the names besides Klopp, this would be the best hire.
