Thiago Motta wasn’t too pleased with his side after the 2-1 defeat against AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final. However, he also made sure to highlight that the Rossoneri didn’t create much either.
Juventus took the lead in the first half through Kenan Yildiz and after that, they had more or less full control of the proceedings. Things changed in the second half, though, as Sergio Conceicao made a few subs and also gave the team new instructions.
Two quick goals from the Rossoneri completed the turnaround, and Juventus were unable to respond aside from a Federico Gatti shot that was heroically blocked by Matteo Gabbia. After the game, Juve manager Motta spoke to Mediaset (via Football Italia).
“We certainly cannot be happy with what we did, especially in the first half, while in the second we also failed to convert chances to kill the game. Milan did very little too, so they should not have been able to win the game by doing just that.
“Today we took the lead, were better than our opponents in many ways, but with very little effort, our opponents managed to turn it around. Negative incidents happen, but we did not react the right way,” he stated.
In other words, Motta clearly wasn’t happy with missing out on the Supercoppa Italiana final against Inter. It was also the Bianconeri’s first defeat domestically this season, so not even a draw was able to save the manager this time.
Music to my years… A crying Juventista!
OK, I put in other words: Milan won effortlessly. Juve was struggling. Better Mister? Btw, how many times Juve won with luck in past 100 years? With luck & “luck”. You’ll be sacked soon.
He’s right we weren’t impressive. But that’s been his Juve for most of the season. And presumably we will get better as the players learn Conceicaos methods.
Inter will be a step up, interesting how we deal with them, earlier in the season we won playing Tammy+Morata together wonder if Sergio will use similar tactics
The team with the most draws in the world wants to win?? Fake news 🤣
He’s not wrong. But juve also didn’t score and they had opportunities. It is what it is.
Once that midfield clicks tho they gonna be a serious issue.
“They did very little”. Well, you did even less.
I didn’t watch a lot of first half action. But I think we did quite well in the second. Juve didn’t do enough either in the second, barring those last minute pressure they put on us. I am a fun of 433. The midfield need a tweak
Our first shot on goal in the match came in the 67th minute and only roughly the last half an hour of the match we did really good.
Juventus could and should easily have lead 2-0 at half time and also had the chance in the last seconds of the match.
I think if we look at the entire match with non biased eyes then Juve would have been a deserved winner or at the bare minimum deserved a draw,
In the end we won the match and that is all that matters.
Truth
We grew very well into the game
Only towards the last 1/3 of the match but then we also played pretty well.
Just tried to contain Milan. Once they got the goal, they played the typical Italian football of playing out the game with a lone goal. Musah changed everything, and they got confused. They were lucky that Milan didn’t put away their chances in the second half. It would have been a slap in the face for him, rather than saying Milan didn’t do much.
Yes, Milan did too little, but your players did more than they had to do. lol
That’s how strong we are 💪 – beating you with very little effort!
LOL. Well said.
He’s so accustomed to drawing that he doesn’t think other teams should win games, must be a new concept for him lol 😂😂😂
