Mourinho says Milan are ‘playing for the title’ and discusses touchline ban

By Isak Möller -

On the eve of the clash between AC Milan and Roma at San Siro, Jose Mourinho shared his thoughts on what will be a difficult game. As was the case last season, he will be in the stands for this fixture due to a touchline ban.

Mourinho has received several red cards already this season and as a result of the latest one, he will be in the stands tomorrow. Interestingly, he actually missed the Milan-Roma fixture last season as well, when the Giallorrossi came back from 2-0 behind to draw 2-2.

Speaking to the media at the press conference earlier today, as cited by Calciomercato.com, Mourinho shared his thoughts on Milan. He stated that the Rossoneri are fighting for the title despite many injuries, and also commented on his touchline ban.

“Are the Rossoneri in difficulty? They are playing for the title, and they won the Scudetto two years ago. They are behind Inter and Juve despite losing several important players to injury. Now they have taken Gabbia and Terracciano, they know our difficulties and they will put everything into this match.

“I’m sorry that I won’t be on the bench, I will be in the stands in a habitat where I’m not welcome. But I’ll try to do my job. We go there with everything we have, I’m certain that the boys will give everything, they too suffer when the result is not positive.

“If Dybala will be there? I don’t think so,” he concluded.

The game is scheduled for 20:45 CET and San Siro is sold out, which should make for a great atmosphere underneath the floodlights. Milan will also reach 1m spectators for the season, which is an impressive achievement indeed.
