Sky: Napoli tie up €35m deal for Udinese striker – the background on Milan’s attempt

Lorenzo Lucca is finally heading to Napoli after weeks of speculation about where he might end up, but AC Milan apparently made an attempt.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement on social media, stating: “Lorenzo Lucca to Napoli, here we go! Verbal agreement in place with Udinese. Package confirmed: €9m loan fee, €26m obligation to buy clause with add-ons. The Italian striker will sign five year deal later this week.”

Milan’s attempt

According to Sky (via Football Italia), Napoli have indeed beaten the competition and closed the deal for the Udinese center forward. The agreement between the parties is as Romano outlines, a total operation worth around €35m.

Atalanta and Milan were keen on signing Lucca, they add. The Bergamo club had shown interest in him following the transfer of Mateo Retegui to Saudi Arabia from Al Qadsiah, but the advanced stage of the deal between Napoli and Udinese nipped any interest in the bud.

The Rossoneri had also attempted a more concrete move for Lucca as the directors had proposed a swap deal, offering Udinese cash plus Lorenzo Colombo to try and convince them. It was even claimed that Massimiliano Allegri is an admirer of the Italian and endorsed the move.

The deal did not proceed given the differing points of view on the players’ respective valuations. Atalanta and Milan, therefore, continue their search for a centre-forward.

  1. Napoli has already made 5 signings I think and have improved their Scudetto winning team. And yet we’re told ADL is a problem, meanwhile look at pathetic RedBird…

      1. You comment like you’re 13 years old.

This is how you react and conduct business after winning the Scudetto. You strengthen the team to be even better. When Milan won the league and made it to the semis of CL, what did RedBird do? Destroy the team. We came in 8th last year, but keep defending them.

        1. “This is how you react and conduct business after winning the Scudetto.”
Clearly forgetting that Napoli finished 10th in the league the season after their Scudetto and just before this one.
“We came in 8th last year, but keep defending them.”
I’m sure there were Napoli fans acting just as hysterical as you when they came in 10th one season ago. Bad seasons can happen. Calm down, you child.

    1. We’ve outspent Napoli over the past 2 years. As usual, you miss the point. The issue isn’t how much is spent, the issue is how the money is spent, the issue is deliberately looking to leagues outside of Serie A and ignoring talent. That has NOTHING to do with Cardinale and Furlani, that’s on the sporting director and coach.

      1. There he is Cardinale Cuck always ready to defend Gerry and rat Furlani. Last year it was Moncada and Fonseca’s fault and this year it’s Tare and Allegri haha wow

          1. Explain to me how Cardinale and Furlani bare no responsibility Vero. Or are you just running your mouth like a child?

      2. dude.. it wasn’t M&M, Moncada or now Tare who put salary tag, strick budget, sell good/best players to finance the next buy & confirm the deal. it’s foolani &/ clowndinale.
i’m sure M&M, Moncada & Tare give not just 1 or 2 but many players option w/ best possible price but in the end it’s foolani &/ clowndinale who choose & confirm

      3. Ahhh…the Redbird Lovers are out in full force today!!! Hahahahaha!!

Lots of A$$ 🤡’s everywhere: @Mk @uberhulk and @Fries (who is actually @Boulden in disguise)!!

Ya it’s all the SD and coaches fault – not Furlani or Gerry – oh ya that is sooo right how did u guess that son??? Hahahahaa! Ya finishing 8th isn’t a big deal! Who cares right @Mk??? No need to worry if we finish 7th this year it would be an improvement and we should be happy!!!

So many idiot 🤡🤡🤡’s what has happened to this forum??? Gerry can’t spend $$ on players but he sure can on BOTS. Never in the world have I heard a fan standing up for an executive like these clowns stand up for Furlani and Co. Insane

Fkn disgusting. Kids beating off to Furlani posters. What has this world come to

  2. Tyvärr har inkompetenta ledningen dumhet=snålhet gått mist om både Lucca samt Retegui

Slutar med medioker som Morata som vanligt5

  3. Im pretty sure he was never on our radar. The guy has scored like 7 goals and is all of the sudden worth 35M 😅

    1. Lucca scored 12 goals in Serie A last season while our top striker score 5 goals. We could have definitely used him.

      1. At this point we almost have no choice, since it seems we’re incapable of bringing in another striker.

  4. I would keep Colombo as well since we know that redbird are cheap af….. don’t sign striker and sign 2 fullbacks asap and work on getting rid of all the deadwood we have in the squad… finalize the market with buying of jashari and thats it. I think this would be the best summer transfer window we can hope for

  5. I don’t even know what they are doing again today we’ve the funds to say a certain player tomorrow we’re fighting over discount at this point we can’t even compete with sunderland when it comes to signing players

  6. On paper, Napoli has already won the scudetto. The purchases they’ve made have really strengthened the team considerably. And they’re about to buy Vanja Milinkovic-Savic too! FFS.

    1. That’s exactly what made Conte decided to stay. Ambition and improvement. We might hate him as much as want (like many members here), but he got the job done.

    2. Exactly, this is what we should have done after winning the Scudetto and making the semis of
CL. Instead, look at us, 8th place and getting outbid by the likes Fenerbache haha

      1. There was no money to strengthen the team after the Scudetto because Maldini let our best players leave for free. That’s the hard truth that none of the Maldini fanboys want to except, so they blame it on others.

    1. It’s not a good deal at all and they know it, but they just want to complain because they hate the ownership. These same people would be screaming about how stupid Milan are if they offered 35 mil for Lucca who is not worth it at all.
We could bring in Oshimen and a few of these idiots would find a reason to complain about it.

  7. This is why it makes no sense for Milan to buy Italians. Lucca for freaking €35 million?? He scored less than 10 goals last season in Serie A… For this money you could get a much better foreign player, simple as that.

Napoli has Scudetto and CL money, so they can afford these Italian statement signings. Milan cannot…

    1. Lucca scored 12 goals in serie A last year and 2 in coppa, a lot more than any of our foreign strikers ??

    1. Man you are stupid. They didn’t fail with Carmada, he’s 17. He should never have been called up the the top Team in the first place. He needs playing time and lots of it, which is exactly what he will get at Lecce without the pressures that come with playing at Milan. He will come back to us a much better player. Try to be less dumb.
