La Nazione: Milan initiate talks with Fiorentina star Amrabat – the situation

By Isak Möller -

Sofyan Amrabat is expected to leave Fiorentina this summer to join a bigger club and AC Milan are one of the many teams interested. In fact, the Rossoneri have already initiated contacts, a report claims.

After a very successful World Cup with Morrocco earlier this past season, Amrabat ended up on the radar of several big clubs. After the sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle for around €80m, Milan could also join the race.

According to today’s edition of La Nazione, as cited by FirenzeViola, Milan are aiming to bolster their midfield and have set their sights on Amrabat. Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso is asking for €30m, though.

Milan have already initiated contacts with the player’s entourage, per the report, and new talks are expected over the coming weeks. For now, though, it’s most likely just a case of the Rossoneri taking stock of the situation to see if a deal is possible at all.

  1. By far the best option out of what we’ve heard so far.
I still remeber the game against Fiorentina…our midfielders looked like little boys against him. He’s the only one who can actually count as a Kessie replacement in terms of physicality.
I don’t see why he would join Milan, though.

    1. He blew me away in that match. Single-handedly dominated the whole pitch that day. Doubt he lost the ball once. He would lift the team to another level.

    2. 💯, would compliment our midfield with Fratassi to his side and SMS in front of him we would be have one of not the best midfield in Seria a especially if you went for a 3 4 2 1 formation

      Mike M

      Kalulu. Thaiw. Tomori

      Calabria. Theo
      Frattasi. Ambarat
      SMS

      Pulisic. Leao

      BETO

But we would need strength in depth but I think the above could be a great starting point

  2. If Milan are going to invest heavily in any midfielder this is the guy. Proven performer in the league, strong on the ball, good skill and excellent vision….and he’s still young. This is the closest thing to a no brainer for midfield.

  3. This guy is the only worthy addition if we want to take a step up in quality and actually reinforce the squad. RLC is just a backup player at most. Still, this sounds too good to be true so it probably isn’t.

  4. He’s more like 40M and we are not spending 40M on a DM (nor or any other player) for that matter – and esp after we just spent 20M on RLC – also a DM. At best we get the kid from Holland for 15-18M.

Redbird will not spend big $$ on players like Amrabat – despite having the $$ to do so. It eats into our PROFIT!!! Lol. Sad

    1. He’s in his last year of contract with Fiorentina and several reports suggest Commiso would sell for 30 millions. Maybe even 25 millions+bonuses or a counterpart (Colombo or Maldini) would do the trick. If they are even in discussion for him.

  5. He only have 1 years in his contract . 30m euro offer should be enough if ACM want to invest in DMF. But if more than 30m euro just skip Amrabat will upgrade our double pivot quality

  6. This is where the 20mil for RLC proposed deal should be spent. 20mil plus 5mil in bonuses should get the deal done. Both quality and efficiency upgrade instantly. I’ll say it again RLC is bad business weather for backup or not.

    1. Yep. For another €10 million, we’d get a proven international class player who EPL clubs would kill to sign 1-2 years down the line. RCL was NOT a moneyball signing. He’s anti moneyball, there’s no upside.

  7. Amrabat has done well over the years. Against WestHam, I couldn’t stop wishing the ball would go to him. He’s excellent on the ball. Didn’t know he cost that much. It’s up to the coach. If he needs him, then, he should push the management to get him. We need quality players, regardless of our reluctance to spend big. Last season was a big lesson for us.
