Nesta says he would prefer to face Inter’s strikers over Milan’s ‘a thousand times’

The big game between AC Milan and Inter, also known as the Derby Della Madonnina, is just six hours away and the tension is rising. The Rossoneri legend Alessandro Nesta has shared his thoughts on the clash.

Milan need a win in order to stay within reach of Inter, who are currently four points ahead and also have a game in hand. Should the Nerazzurri win, then they would be seven points ahead of the Rossoneri, which would be very difficult to catch up with.

In an interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanLive), Alessandro Nesta spoke about the derby clash and he spoke about the respective attacking departments. He made it clear that he, as a defender, would rather face Inter’s strikers.

“Ibra and Rebic being out is another matter but in general, as a former defender, I would prefer to face Inte’s strikers a thousand times over the Rossoneri ones. In a game made up of duels and the search for superiority, Leao is one who makes the difference.

“I love to watch him, he always gets past his man and he will improve in the final third. If Ibra is there and is fine, taking the ball off them is impossible, Leao like Rebic take the field quickly and you can’t stop them anymore. If I had to choose, I would play against those of Inter,” he stated.

It remains to be seen what the outcome of the game will be but it’s clear that the likes of Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud will have to perform really well tonight. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic out, Milan need them in good form.
