Newcastle United are hoping to make a big statement in the summer by signing Sven Botman but AC Milan’s interest is a ‘problem’, a journalist has claimed.
In recent weeks there have been a number of different reports from various sources claiming that Botman is the man Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara want to come in and form part of the defensive department moving forward, having put a January pursuit to to one side in order to focus on getting him in the summer.
MilanNews recently reported that Casa Milan hosted the agency of Botman earlier this month, and during a meeting the management reaffirmed their desire to sign the 22-year-old because they view him as the ideal long-term partner to Fikayo Tomori in the heart of defence.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, the English journalist Dean Jones revealed his belief that Newcastle will find the race to sign Botman anything but easy despite the seemingly endless put of money that they have access to.
“This is the problem you’ve got with Newcastle. On one side, you can attract players with your exciting project. On the other hand, you haven’t got that pedigree and heritage that might bring other players in, and I think from what I’m told, Sven Botman is very much won over by the idea of playing for AC Milan and everything that it encapsulates,” he said.
