Official: AC Milan appoint Federico Guidi as new Primavera head coach

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have announced today that Federico Guidi has been appointed as the new head coach of the Primavera side.

It had been reported in recent weeks that Guidi would be taking over from Ignazio Abate, who vacated the position at the end of last season when his contract expired in order to take a job at a senior side.

Now, the official website has confirmed that Guidi has arrived. Born in Florence on 23 December 1976, he began his coaching career at youth level with Empoli in 1999 and then moved to Fiorentina eight years later.

He coached various age groups before making the step up to the U19s, with whom he reached the Scudetto Final in 2016-17. He’d previously led the Viola’s U15s to the Scudetto in 2010-11 and went on to coach Italy’s U20 and U19 sides.

Guidi got some experience at senior level, coaching Gubbio, Casertana and Teramo in Serie C. In July 2022, he took charge of Roma Primavera, who he led to the Scudetto final last season, winning the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana in his spell in charge.

The Tuscan coach has now joined Milan Primavera and will continue the good work done by Abate. They also state that he has signed a ‘long-term contract’, and he knows Vincenzo Vergine well.
