Official: AC Milan confirm Hakan Calhanoglu has tested negative for COVID-19

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu is ready to return to action as it has been confirmed that he has returned a negative COVID-19 test.

In a statement on their official website back on January 17, the club announced that Çalhanoğlu and Theo Hernández tested positive for a molecular swab carried out by the whole squad, the rest of whom tested negative.

It was then revealed though that the Frenchman has in fact returned a false positive, meaning he was able to return in time for Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat to Atalanta.

Calhanoglu confirmed that he had some symptoms at the start but those subsided, and now he will be ready to rejoin his team-mates as soon as possible because the club have confirmed that he has tested negative.

It comes after the player himself announced the news via a post on his Instagram account this afternoon, which is good news for Pioli.
