Official: AC Milan vs. Lecce starting XIs – four changes from mid-week clash

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan and Lecce will take on each other this afternoon and Stefano Pioli has decided to make four changes to the starting XI. With the focus now back on Serie A, the Rossoneri have a strong eleven.

After the heavy rotation against both Empoli and Bologna, both of which ended in draws, Pioli has decided to make just four changes for this one. Davide Calabria is suspended and Olivier Giroud is injured, which has forced him to field Pierre Kalulu on the right and Ante Rebic up front.

Malick Thiaw also gets the chance from start after getting benched in the Napoli games, while Junior Messias gives Ismael Bennacer some much-needed rest. The Algerian worked really hard mid-week and indeed deserves it.

Official Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Kalulu, Thiaw, Tomori, Hernández; Krunic, Tonali; Messias, Díaz, Leão; Rebic.

Bench: Mirante, Tătăruşanu; Ballo-Touré, Florenzi, Gabbia, Kjær; Adli, Bakayoko, Bennacer, Saelemaekers, Vranckx; De Ketelaere, Ibrahimović, Origi.

Official Lecce XI (4-3-3): Falcone; Gendrey, Baschirotto, Umtiti, Gallo; Blin, Hjulmand, Oudin; Di Francesco, Ceesay, Banda.

Bench: Bleve, Brancolini; Cassandro, Ceccaroni, Pezzella, Romagnoli, Thuia; Askildsen, González, Helgason, Maleh; Streffezza, Voelkerling.

  1. This has got nothing to do with this article so I apologize but I hope Milan get samardzic before premier league clubs start throwing money everywhere

        1. If i remember correctly then the udinese president has already slapped a 40 mil tag on the player as they want to keep him for at least 1 more season.

  2. Poor old Charles. Not even worthy of a spot v Lecce. Rebic and Messias more of a guarantee.
What on earth is the plan with him now?

The only viable options now are sell at a discount or send on loan.

Given our scouts identified so many talents like Alvarez and Martinez etc, how on earth did we spend all summer landing CDK.
He may one day show his talent but you don’t pay 35m for a Primavera player.
In all honesty if he was a Primavera player we would all be disappointed with his contribution.

Ah well its a learning curve.

    1. “our scouts identified so many talents like Alvarez and Martinez etc”, I mean so did everyone else’s scouts, so in that sense our guys didn’t do anything special. The “fail” was at the level of the decision makers who then choose which one of the scouted players to bring in. Obviously it’s always a crap shoot. You never really know if a player is going to pan out until you sign him. We know the names of Alvarez and Martinez precisely because they’ve been successful. For everyone one of them there are 10 players that crash and burn, and we don’t hear of them anymore. Unfortunately, CDK may be in this latter group and we simply happened to choose the lemon. It can happen.

  3. Come on Rebic, show your skill be like Sheva today we need your goal or assist, cus losing will simply make the team out of 4th position period.

  4. Yes continue to put Diaz in his less effective position so Milan can continue to be ineffective in these type of games…

  5. good header by Leao!
he is a big guy, so hopefully he can get more goals with his head. Be a great addition to his armory, a la osimehn
