On their official website, AC Milan have released a statement regarding Giacomo Bonaventura, who underwent a surgery in Pittsburgh earlier today.

The midfielder has been struggling with his left knee as of late, and thus decided to undergo an operation. As a result of this, he will miss the rest of the season, which Milan confirmed in their statement.

“AC Milan announces that Giacomo Bonaventura underwent surgery on the osteochondral lesion of his left knee. Today’s cartilage repair procedure, carried out in Pittsburgh by the surgeons Volker Musahl and Freddie Fu in the presence of the AC Milan medical staff, was successful and the recovery time is estimated in 8/9 months,” the statement read.
