Gustavo Gomez has now officially joined Brazilian club Palmeiras. After passing his medical yesterday, the Sao Paulo-based club announced his transfer this morning.
The 25-year-old Paraguayan international will join Palmeiras on loan for €1.5 million with an obligation to buy for another €4.5 million, providing that he plays at least 50% of the club’s matches this season.
The centre-back joined the Rossoneri in 2016, but never really managed to make an impression under both Vincenzo Montella and then Gennaro Gattuso.
During his two-year spell at the club, Gomez only featured in 18 Serie A matches and 20 matches overall. Last season the player collected only 10 minutes of competitive football in the Europa League.
“I am very happy to be at this club. The training centre is very good, which is important for players,” Gomez told the Palmeiras’ official website after visiting the club facilities.
