Lega Serie A have named AC Milanโs Mike Maignan as the best goalkeeper of the 2021-22 season in their end of season awards.
The Frenchman arrived last summer from Lille to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma (who was the goalkeeper of the year for Milan in 2020-21) and he has started 31 games in the league this season, keeping an impressive 16 clean sheets including 8 in the last 10 games, helping guide Milan towards a potential Scudetto if they win or draw against Sassuolo on Sunday.

Mike “Eagle Eye” Maignan. He will be the best GK of the world.
Deserved, I can’t believe we got such a good goalkeeper for such a small transer fee.
It is amazing. Maignan led Ligue 1 last year with Lille in each of clean sheets, save percentage and fewest goals allowed (and won the Ligue 1 title edging out PSG).
This year, he leads Serie A in clean sheets, save percentage (by a good margin over 2nd best Napoli’s Ospina) and fewest goals allowed. It would be really great if he adds one more clean sheet to his tally which would seal the Scudetto for him.
An amazing player, a winner, can play so well with his feet too. Definitely should be considered for POY in the entire league.
So many compliments from people who were saying we should have paid he money that donnarumma was asking and are still saying we need to pay big wage demands from players so we don’t lose our best players.
