Official: Milan defender will miss four months of action following successful surgery

By Isak Möller -

Mateo Musacchio wasn’t called up for AC Milan’s games against Juventus and Lecce due to an injury. However, up until this evening, no one seemed to know when the Argentine defender will be back in action.

As revealed by AC Milan on their official website, the centre-back was forced to undergo a surgery due to the ankle injury, which has kept him out since the start of June. The recovery process will take four months, should everything go as planned.

Luckily, the Rossoneri have options for that position. Simon Kjaer, who has been Alessio Romagnoli’s undisputed partner as of late, was forced off with an injury against Lecce but could be ready against Roma, per MilanNews.it.

According to the latter report, Leo Duarte is back from his injury and will also be at Stefano Pioli’s disposal. However, Matteo Gabbia will most likely be the starter if Kjaer can’t make it back in time for Sunday’s clash.
