Official: Milan midfielder Halilovic completes move to Eredivisie side

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have loaned midfielder Alen Halilovic to SC Heerenveen, the Eredivisie side have confirmed.

The former Barcelona man arrived last summer from Hamburger SV but made just three appearances last season for the Rossoneri, all of which came in the Europa League.

The 22-year-old struggled for consistent opportunities with Milan, and as such he joined Standard Liege on an 18-month loan in January.

However, Belgian outlet La Derniere Heure claimed in August that Halilovic wanted to cut short his loan spell with Standard in order to move elsewhere, with interest mentioned from clubs in Portugal.

Now, it has been officially confirmed that the Croatian has joined SC Heerenveen on a season long loan, as a statement on their website confirms.

It reads: ‘SC Heerenveen has strengthened itself with Croatian international Alen Halilovic.

‘The 23-year-old former player of FC Barcelona and Hamburger SV, among others, is loaned from AC Milan for the duration of one season.’
