Okafor hoping to replicate Olimpico glory and lead Milan against Lazio

Noah Okafor will be the starting striker for AC Milan in their game against Lazio tonight, which will take place at Stadio Olimpico. It’s a stadium that the Swiss international has fond memories of, having decided the fixture last season.

Alvaro Morata and Luka Jovic are both out with injuries and Paulo Fonseca has thus been left with no choice but to start Okafor as the No.9 again. It wasn’t a huge success against Parma last time out but then again, the whole team struggled in that game.

Looking back at the Lazio-Milan fixture last season, the Rossoneri came away with all three points thanks to a late goal from, you guessed it, Okafor. The Swiss international came off the bench in the 71st minute and found the back of the net in the 88th with a composed finish.

It was a rather bold substation by Pioli as well given that he switched to two men up front, keeping Olivier Giroud on, and moving Ruben Loftus-Cheek down in the tandem. In any case, Okafor will be looking to replicate that Olimpico glory tonight.

Frnakly speaking, Milan need him to as heading into the international break with one or two points would be a complete disaster.

  1. Here’s an interesting stat: Milan won only one game in the last seven games of Serie A last season and none this year. That’s an intriguing streak.

  2. So if the rumours are true Leao and Theo will be benched… my question is why is Loftus still playing as number 10? He is been the worse player last game.
