Opta: 14-game unbeaten run highlights just how important Ibrahimovic is for Milan

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been a key player for Milan ever since he arrived in January last year, transforming the mentality of the squad. And little over a year later, the Rossoneri are in the Scudetto race for the first time in years.

There’s no doubt that Ibrahimovic has been incredibly important in this revolution and his contribution extends beyond the pitch. As mentioned, he has changed the mentality of the team, also resulting in them being able to play without him.

There is still a difference, however, between when the 39-year-old is on the pitch and when he isn’t. As highlighted by Opta, Milan are unbeaten in the 14 games Ibrahimovic has scored in post-lockdown (12W, 2D), bagging a total of 22 goals in this period.

So, in short, whenever the Swede scores the Rossoneri almost always take home the three points. It’s indeed a very impressive record and above all one that shows just how important Ibrahimovic is for the team.
