MN: Optimism emerges after meeting with Giroud’s agents – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan management had a meeting with Olivier Giroud’s agents Michael Manuello and Vincenzo Morabito at Casa Milan today, and there was progress in renewal talks.

MilanNews reports that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara had a positive meeting which lasted for around an hour and some steps forward towards an agreement were made. The parties start from an important mutual desire: to continue together for at least another season.

Optimism filters on both sides and Giroud has always shown great attachment to Milan. He was one of the key men in the Scudetto win and wants to continue his time at the club, while the 36-year-old is an important presence in the dressing room.

The parties will reconvene again shortly to try reach a full agreement over a new one-year contract plus the option to renew for another season with a salary of €4m net for the year.

The signature could come somewhere in between the trio of matches that Milan have against Napoli, where all of the Frenchman’s experience and his knack for goals in big games will be needed.
