‘Not maintained the high level’ – Ordine explains why Milan could sell Simic

By Oliver Fisher -

Journalist Franco Ordine has offered an explanation as to why Jan-Carlo Simic could be set to depart AC Milan in the coming days or weeks.

A lot of fans had high hopes for Simic, especially when he scored on his debut at San Siro in Serie A against Monza and played a few games with the senior side where he showed that he was not out of place.

However, things have gone south in the past few weeks. His contract is expiring in 2025 and a renewal seemed to be a mere formality last January but then it became increasingly complicated, with reports claiming that he wants a big pay rise and guaranteed first team football to extend.

The rumours also then emerged that Anderlecht are close to striking a deal with the Rossoneri over a transfer fee that would be a few million euros, something that provoked a strong reaction on social media.

Ordine spoke in his weekly column for MilanNews and in addition to speaking about issues such as the midfield and the arrival of Alvaro Morata, he shed some light on the Simic saga.

“I start with Simic and not with Morata, a deal that has just been concluded. I do so because we know almost everything about Morata and we also know that he will not completely solve the problem of the definitive replacement for Giroud and Ibra before,” he said.

“I start with Simic not to deal in detail with the issue of this young man who made a great debut with a nice goal but then disappeared from the radar with Pioli, without an explanation.

“I start with him because according to colleagues who deal with the transfer market he is close to being sold (probably to Belgium) for a modest sum (I hear talk of 3 million euros).

“I asked for explanations and was told that the choice is probably the result of a technical judgment on the young man who has not maintained the high level and who has certainly been ‘overtaken’ by the return of Gabbia to the first team as well as by the imminent arrival of another reinforcement in that department.

“He, Simic, instead snubbed Serie C and wanted the first team. If someone has made the wrong technical judgment, it will be necessary to remember it at the right time.”

  1. ,, not maintained a high level” what is this crap? The boy played very good when he was offered the chance, honestly I thought he will be our next CB along side with Tomori but maestro Pioli chosed to play Theo as CB and Thiaw who was obviously out of form and didn’t gave Simic the chance to play there. Fonseca played Yoro at Lille who is 17 years old CB and now they sold him at United for 50 mil, Barcelona also played with a 18 years CB but there are people who think that Simic is too young to take over… sending him to Seria C is an insult even though I don’t want him to leave I totally understand if he does it

  2. Lenny yoro, pau cubarsi, joan anaya, lamine yamal, marc casado and angel alarcon. The next big things. Exclude Yoro, they are hot prospect for fc barcelona.

    1. Nevermind what Ordine says. Fonseca will be the second coach to evaluate him, who is known for giving youngsters chances. If he too passes on giving Simic minutes, then you know something’s up with him.

If the money talk is true, then perhaps the amount of money he wants doesn’t justify his skillset.

  3. For as much as I’ve seen him (which is all his first team appearances), this kid is really overrated. He really isn’t as good as most Milan fans seem to think he is. The management should definitely sell him at first chance.

  4. Just renew him and let him be with the first team and sell for much higher profit later on when you can dictate his price.. we might need when injury worries or even if its for uefa squad list

He is not surplus to the team

  5. What a waste of time and money.

Simic and Nsiala were a vital core of the Primavera getting to youth league final.
1 has already left and now it looks like the other will follow
Given our ownership don’t want to spend big on players, surely we must be giving these guys a chance!!!!!!!!!

  6. I rate Nsiala over him. Simic has alot of flaws once ppl can take off the red and black coloured glasses for a moment. But at the same time he needs game time and experience to develop. Perhaps Serie B would be a good start and work from there on upward. But he’s not ready for a continuous/starting role in the big leagues

  7. This as I said before and I want everyone to remember this. If Simic is leaving this management and everyone who is trying to look smart here now by saying we need to sell him. Just remember that day if it comes. When we sold our best young talent defender in generation. Id**ts
