Origi earns more than Milan stars despite not playing – the striker’s annual salary

As the summer transfer window recently came to an end, AC Milan’s wage bill for the 2024-25 season has been published by various sources and one name stands out: Divock Origi. Indeed, the striker earns more than most of the players.

Origi joined Milan on a free transfer back in 2022 but injuries made his life difficult, scoring just two goals in his first season. He was thus sent out on loan to Nottingham Forrest last season but failed to impress there too, finding the back of the net once.

As highlighted by the wage bill for the current season, since Milan failed to offload Origi, the striker earns €4m net per year and it costs the Rossoneri €5.24m gross. This is more than the likes of Mike Maignan (€2.8m), Tijjani Reijnders (€1.7m) and level with Theo Hernandez.

Considering that Origi hasn’t played a minute so far this season, not even part of the first team at all, it’s like burning cash for Milan. The fact that a four-year deal was signed in the first is highly questionable and in hindsight, it could down as one of the worst signings in the club’s history.

The transfer window is still open in Turkey, it should be noted, and a few clubs have previously expressed interest in Origi. However, the striker seems more keen on getting his hefty paychecks than actually attempting to revive his career.

  1. People talk about this transfer as if it was the only transfer in the history of Milan/football that didn’t work out.

We’ve signed at least 1 new striker every season that Benzema played for Real and most were a waste of time, money, effort and support.

But of all of the pointless signings we made, and all of the bad management, Maldini & Co delivered only 3rd Scudetto this century.

  2. We can thank Maldini for his horrible signing. Origi was also injured when we sign him and we could have singed Kolo Muani on a free transfer and Julian Alvarez for cheap.

Ibra also is responsible for the signing of Emerson Royal. This is why I am against having past players in Milan management because they have absolutely no experience in management.

The best thing for Milan apart from Redbird selling the club is to get rid of Ibra, Furlani and Moncada and sign an EXPERIENCE CEO, Sporting DIRECTOR and GM who knows how to run a football club and build a successful winning team.

  3. Please such thingsc do happened in the world of football, so let us face our problem for is better because we almost 15 at the table stand 💔

  4. compare all M&M player w/ after M&M, not just origi,
compare the squad they build (winning squad) w/ current (not over-priced doesn’t mean always being cheap & random buy)

  5. You should watch milan vs Liverpool in the 2022 champions league. Origi was one of the best players on the field. That explains why we hired him. Of course with us he did not work out well. But he is still probably better than Jovic. At least i am sure than jovic did not never score in any champions league final or semi final.

    1. You’re are high af, or simply an imbecile. Original never even hit double digits in any season there, he barely ever scored to begin with at all. His form per year was worse than the likes of Danny Ings, he was never a good signing, and Jovic scored 9 off the bench last season. Origi couldn’t even manage 3 in a full season…

    2. If he didn’t manage to convince a team that’s literally just trying to avoid relegation in the EPL, I don’t see what more of a “red flag” (pun intended) you need
