Origi admits he ‘needed some time to get in shape’ after playing 45 mins vs. Verona – video

AC Milan striker Divock Origi has insisted that there is a ‘united team’ and that he just ‘needed some time’ to settle into the squad.

Origi played the most minutes he has in a single game thus far as he came off the bench at half-time during the 2-1 win over Hellas Verona last night, getting 45 minutes under his belt as his gradual return from injury continues.

Interviewed by MilanTv after the victory at the Stadio Bentegodi, the Belgian reflected on the win and the performance that sealed it.

“We wanted to get the three points, we are a united team who wanted to demonstrate,” he said (via MilanNews).

“It is the game in which I have played the most minutes since I have been here. I needed some time to get in shape. I played about 45 minutes.”

On Monza: “We will do everything to tactically prepare this match with a full week available.”

Origi also spoke to DAZN after the game who began by asking him how he feels from a condition point of view.

“I feel good. Coming back from the injury it is good to pick up the pace. It was nice to lend a hand to my team-mates,” he said.

Three difficult points, why did you find difficulties today?

“They played with great intensity and a big heart, but we too have shown that we have a big heart and that we are the strongest team in Serie A: we will have to continue to prove it to continue being champions.

“It’s amazing to see the quality and passion that is here, in training, the staff, right up to the fans at the stadium. Everyone will be important this season to be able to give their best for the team.”
