CM: Origi’s spell at Milan could end after one season – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

It cannot yet be excluded that Divock Origi’s time at AC Milan lasts for just one season as his struggles continue, a report claims.

Origi arrived on a free transfer from Liverpool at the end of last season but had a heavily disrupted preseason due to carrying over a tendon issue that plagued the end of his time at Anfield, and he has simply never hit the ground running at Milan scoring just twice.

Calciomercato.com recall how in the summer the club had bet on Origi as the primary alternative to Olivier Giroud, but the Belgian forward has not been able to fulfil that role due to numerous physical problems.

His €4m net per season salary weighs heavily on the wage bill and given that Milan signed him as a free agent, it is not excluded that he could leave the Rossoneri in the summer if the right offers arrive.

  1. His spell SHOULD end. Getting 5 million for him would be an achievement. There isn’t a single positive out to take from his season and he doesn’t have a resume to protect him or suggest he will improve. He has a high salary, fitness issues, rarely scores, and his overall play is poor and selfish.

    1. Milan should cover the losses and let him go for free as no one will pay anything for him – nor match his current salary.

  2. Why would anybody want him after what he showed this season? They didn’t want him when he was free and they’ll want him now? Doubtful.

    1. There are many teams at lower levels that could benefit from him. Milan doesn’t seem like a good fit. He could probably find a better home in PL. Something lika Crystal Palace or something like that could maybe work.

  3. athe right offer is any offer at this point that will have him move out the door. Unless he delivers results and stays healthy until the end of the season, we need to cut our losses. In the case his performance stays the same, we gave him 4 million euros, we need to find a club that believes he is worth at least that to take him on or else we will be stuck with him. He is less likely to agree to leave to a team that is not willing to match what we offered him. These multi year deals for injury prone players are a gamble. 4 million euros per season, for a backup striker that can’t play off the bench for more than half of a season is a tough sell. Hope he improves because he was clutch for Liverpool and we could benefit from his form he showed in the past. That old saying, form is temporary, class is permanent, let’s hope he can be a permanent solution for us.

  4. This is the guy who deserves the most stick for not producing anything this season. Just an unmitigated disaster so far.

  5. Good offer for him only come if he play well until this season end. Mid table and lower table EPL can pay his salary
