AC Milan midfielder Lucas Paqueta believes he and his team-mates have had their confidence boosted after the 1-0 win over SPAL.
The Rossoneri managed to secure a vital three points at San Siro on Halloween night, avoiding a scare against a side that hadn’t scored on their travels let alone picked up a point heading into the game.
Suso was left on the bench in favour of Samu Castillejo, but came off the bench to net the decisive goal just after the hour mark, clipping a trademark free-kick up and over the wall past a motionless Etrit Berisha in the SPAL goal.
Considering that games against Lazio, Juventus and Napoli follow, it was a crucial win for Milan who move back up into the top half of the table and five points off Sunday’s opponents, who sit fifth.
Stefano Pioli praised his side for showing spirit in the win, and Paqueta was interviewed by Sky Italia at the end of the game.
“It was a very important game to win to increase confidence in this difficult moment,” he said (via MilanNews.it).
On Suso’s goal: “It’s a difficult time for everyone, I’m happy for his goal, he’s a great player and it will give him confidence.”
