Strahinja Pavlovic has made it clear that he wishes to stay at AC Milan despite the rumours surrounding a potential January sale.

Pavlovic impressed during the midweek win over Girona and kept his place in the starting line-up despite the return of Fikayo Tomori from suspension. He repaid the faith of Sergio Conceicao with another very positive display.

In addition to winning a penalty for Christian Pulisic’s goal and assisting Samuel Chukwueze’s last-gasp winner, the Serbian had 94% pass accuracy on 65 passes, two key passes and two big chances created.

On the defensive side he had three tackles, one interception, one blocked shot, two clearances, five aerial duels won and six ground duels won out of seven. It was a monstrous performance, all while speculation about Stuttgart’s interest is floating around.

Pavlovic spoke in the press conference room at San Siro moments after the full-time whistle to give his thoughts on a rollercoaster afternoon, with his comments coming via MilanNews.

How do you reflect on a game like that?

“It was a tough match, but we’re happy with the three points. I liked the mentality we showed at 2-1 down. It’s been a tough few weeks for me without playing, but when I’m on the pitch I fight every minute.”

Are you staying at Milan?

“I haven’t played for 10 games and there have been a lot of rumours in the media. But I’m here and I want to stay here.”

What do you think about the Calabria-Conceicao clash?

“I wasn’t with them, but I’m sure everything is ok. These things happen in football. I’m sure there was a misunderstanding, and I’m sure that tomorrow morning at Milanello we will all work to do our best.”

What is your relationship with Conceicao like?

“He has great energy and he always shows it on the sidelines. I have a good relationship with him, I talk to him a lot and I am very confident with him. I am here and I will try to give my best for Milan.”

Two games with you, two wins…

“Winning two games in a row is important. I’m always focused on the pitch.”

You seemed to be all over the park today, why is that?

“I’m hungry for football. I want to win, that’s what I am.”

        1. Skriniar is already going to Fenerbache so we are fine if the high IQ management doesn’t intervene.

I have been saying that our CBs are fine, we just need proper covers on Fullbacks… Jimenez is yet to play as a RB/LB, Bartesaghi too inexperienced even thought positive performance from him today. We need a more experienced and versatile player that can play RB and sometimes even as LB.

Midfield needs de-RLC-sification and a good N6 for the poor Fofana… Frendrup is such a no brainer, we are just waiting for Atalanta to buy him on the last day…

Gimenez I think will come after UCL game, the question is what happens to vice-Leao role…

  1. I speculated the board is considering selling him because of some behind-the-scenes issues. This interview suggests there aren’t any.

In which case we are f*cking batch!t crazy to consider offloading him. He might not play as well as today in “every” game but the attitude he showed today was what we need, plus he’s got some great physical attributes (6’4 , left footed, good straight line speed)

We have to keep him this season.

  2. monster. hope Ibra e Moncada doesn’t have his brain in his ass and sells him off just for some cheap solution from France to come and replace him.

  3. Gabia has been our best CB this season. But Pavlovic certanly out did him today. Thiaw has been good too. Only Tomori has showned signs of regres however he has been good in general too. I think we should keep or CBs as they are. We are well covered in that department.

  4. Last week when I complained about Theo, there was foolish guy here who insulted me and passed racist comments Chukuweze but he got us the winning goal. Theo as usual was clumsy and amateurish in his tackling and he made us to concede the first goal. I am glad the coach saw what I have been seeing. He is not serious, lacks dedication and concentration. Leao’s passes were bad and he looses the ball easily. Theo and Leao were the weakest link. I think Calabria did well in first half. For me, Mr Pavlovich should win the MVP. He fought like a warrior and all the milan players should emulate his example. Bartesaghi did very well and stabilised the LB position when he came on. The coach should give him more chances so that Theo can be on the bench. Musah also worked hard. His work rate is high. Kudos and Forza Milan

    1. Theo is in position to be sold in summer, depending how Milan season is going to finish.

I think about if they miss UCL next year, and if there are any clubs interested, Theo could be perfect match to be sold. Yes, Milan will lose that powerful left back but he was very bad this season. Any sales would meant decent profit and maybe there is someone outside who can be bought on that position.

      1. “I think about if they miss UCL next year, and if there are any clubs interested, Theo could be perfect match to be sold.”

Whether Milan make it to the UCL is irrelevant as Theo isn’t putting his name to the extension. He was never going to before either but after today it’s 100% certain. So, we’re selling him in the summer no matter what.

  5. Pavlovic with the right defensive discipline can be a Jaap Staam for us. We need to keep him. He has huge potential if he can read the game better which should naturally come with a good coach. He has the ability to intercept, he has smart forward ball playing skills, he is fast, he can head, he is strong. DO NOT LET HIM GO

  6. Sadly i think theao, both have their mind somewhere else, they’ve been tempting by huge salaries which we couldnt afford. As for pavlo, i never seen such grinta since tonali.

  7. Milan badly needs Pavlovic in defence. Today he has repaid the club for giving the chance to help AC to their past winning glory. He was the rock at the back and fought for every ball in his area. Forza Pavlovic … a true gladiator for AC Milan.
