Igli Tare is the favourite to be named AC Milan’s sporting director in the summer, but Alfredo Pedulla is not confident about the possible appointment, it seems.
Appointing a new face to the management will always be a nervy time, after all, a sporting director is responsible for the direction of the football operations moving forward, and different appointments can dictate fan reactions.
For example, hiring someone who is not afraid to spend may be more well received than someone who is very restrictive in the mercato and in negotiations – which is one of the big frustrations about the RedBird model.
Nevertheless, the club seems set on hiring Tare and after positive meetings with Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he is firmly the favourite for the job, especially because he aligns with a lot of the club’s ideals.
However, Pedulla has questioned the appointment when speaking to Sportitalia, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.
“They welcomed Fabiani [the new sporting director] like a plague victim. And because they talk about Tare who made great strikes for Lazio, but eight years ago, in the sense Luis Alberto, Milinkovic-Savic, everything you want.
“But the last 3-4 years have been disastrous, and when Fabiani arrived, who in any case put himself at the service of the club by doing other things, they welcomed him as a plague-ridden, especially in the media, as someone who would ruin Lazio, who would not make the signings, who did not know the players. It seems to me exactly the opposite.
“This is to tell you that the parable, then, is a parable made above all of prejudices. Then the subject of AC Milan if you want we will touch it, because if you look at Lazio’s buying campaign and the outlay of Lazio this summer, of a team that is on the pitch great, and has found personality, it seems to me that there are merits of Fabiani from one to 10, 11.
“Yet he was the poor twin of a great director like Tare, who in the last 4 years at Lazio has only made disasters.”
The author makes no real argument explaining *why* Tare’s actions were a disaster—he solely focuses on Fabiani and then, in the final sentence, suddenly declares that Tare’s last four years were a failure. The only reasoning presented throughout the article is that because Fabiani eventually succeeded, it must automatically mean that Tare was bad. There is no critical analysis, no real examination of Tare’s decisions, and no effort to substantiate the claim of failure. This is one of the most poorly reasoned and weakly supported articles I’ve ever read.
Agree completely, but on top of that it’s also poorly translated.
No, don’t buy tickets and hope Curva Sud won’t be there, not just for 15 minutes, but for the whole game. Time to take actions, enough is enough. Cardinale must go, time to get an owner who knows what Milan is. As true supporters this is the only thing we can do!
Hey, don’t worry! Just let the managers do their job and select the new sporting director. We know that they will select THE WORST POSSIBLE CANDIDATE like they always do, so no need to speculate. Whoever is incompetent, cheap, a Yes-Man, and will continue to commit grave errors, is the one who will be hired.
This article makes about as much sense as Emerson Royal’s transfer…
4 years of disaster. It’s sounds perfect for Milan.
tare at lazio only brought 3 players sms luis alberto immobile the rest are useless kinda like moncada work rn while M&M brought this team with pioli a scudetto
Spot on
Last 4 years of Tare’s Lazio career:
They finished 4th in 19/20, 6th in 20/21, 5th in 21/22 and 2nd in his last season in 22/23.
In 19/20 up to the stoppage for covid Lazio were 2nd on the table with 62 points, 1 behind Juventus after 26 games. Milan was 8th, with 36 points.
Currently they are 5th with 50 points after 27 games.
What disaster is this fool talking about?
He was working with peanuts compared with how much money Juventus, Milan, Inter, Napoli, Atalanta, Roma, Fiorentina worked during that time period.
The media campaign against the non Italian Tare has already started, but they will write positive articles about Paratici even though his tenure was an actual disaster and he was banned from working in football.
Oh and Lazio finished 7th in 23/24 without Tare. The worst finish in the last 5 years, even though, according to Pedulla, 4 of those 5 years were disastrous because of Tare.
But those stats don’t suit the narrative at all. 🙂
Thanks for those stats and analysis Z! Pity Pedulla didn’t take the time to do the same.
Very helpful and noteworthy. Grazie.
Forza Milan
Arsenal is one step away from appointing former Atletico SD as a new SD!
We could have got him as well but the board were intimidated by him lol
Now let’s go and get the Lazio man woohoo another bullish decision 🎉
Although neither paratici or tare would be my choice I would rather take paratici. Tare throughout his years brought in a few good players but nothing special. Once again, I want an Italian to come back. We need that Italian DNA.
Maybe monza will be sold, bring back galliani.
Nothing this Redbird organization does will ever be done with any competence in football they are totally incompetent and this past season is verification. Ibra have the decency to walk away with a some dignity if you have any left.
They will sign mister yes man ‘tare’. They won’t sign paratici. Milan have no money and no ambition with no talents management.
This smells like paid propaganda. Tare did wonders with what he got. Wonders
