Pellegatti believes neither Adli nor Musah will be the back-up to Krunic

Stefano Pioli will probably not field either of Yacine Adli or Yunus Musah in place of Rade Krunic when he is unavailable, according to Carlo Pellegatti.

The subject of deputising Krunic has been discussed at length especially after the summer window closed and did not yield the signing of a natural defensive midfielder.

Instead, the department is made up of mostly box-to-box players such as Adli, Musah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders and Tommaso Pobega, though the former was used in preseason as Krunic’s back-up.

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti spoke during an interview with Radio Rossonera about the current state of the midfield department and he revealed his belief that neither Adli nor Musah – who have played as a No.6 for the USA – will slot in for Krunic.

“I didn’t know he played in that position, but our idol Pioli would have said that Krunic’s replacement is Reijnders,” he said.

“Maybe he can change his mind. It’s not just a question of a role. Perhaps Reijnders applies Pioli’s instructions more from central areas than Musah does. We must see.”

  1. Nobody can ever fill the shoes of Krunic. Impossible. Why even try. He is so skillful, there is no way anyone else on this team or in all of Europe could ever replace him. I only pray that he never gets injured.
