Two more names have emerged as possible managerial targets for AC Milan, according to Carlo Pellegatti, with the club keeping an eye on their progress.
There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Milan beyond the current season, in particular regarding the future of Stefano Pioli as the head coach and who might replace him.
While the suggestion from reliable sources is that a decision has not yet been made on whether to bring Pioli’s over four-year reign to an end, it is natural that potential successors are being looked at.
Thiago Motta and Antonio Conte are among the names most frequently linked, and yet there seems to be nothing concrete regarding one profile and that is why other managers keep being put forward.
Speaking to Radio Rossonera, Pellegatti gave some information about how Milan might look in the future and he revealed two more names that the club are keeping an eye on.
“I absolutely disagree with Julen Lopetegui. I have two new names. I believe in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Giorgio Furlani, who give full support to Pioli,” he said.
“In my opinion, until April they are looking around and seeing how the situation is going. If he gets to the semi-final of the Europa League and with a solid third place…
“They told me that there are two young coaches, perhaps one with a career and the other also with age, in German and Spanish football. It is said that Milan are monitoring them. Having said that I never exclude Farioli, a figure I like a lot.
“One is Miguel Angel Sanchez Munoz, better known as Michel , the coach of Girona. He took over the team two years ago, immediately brought it to the Liga and this year they are second.
“The other, mind you, is a manager who they say will become the new Klopp or the new Nagelsmann. His name is Fabian Huerzeler, he was born in 1993 (31 years old), he coaches St. Pauli in the German Serie B [2. Bundesliga].
“First he was with Timo Schulz, then in December 2022 he became first coach, he won 10 consecutive games and from 15th place they went to 4th, conceding only three goals. This year St. Pauli are dominating the league with 42 points, everyone is watching and monitoring him.
“Clearly then the king’s trumpeters arrive to say that we are taking coaches from the second tier, but they are ignorant and I am not interested. Sacchi seems to me like he didn’t come from Real Madrid.”
