Pellegatti: Milan signing Chelsea striker to be Ibra’s deputy for 2-3 years is ‘plausible and possible’

By Oliver Fisher -

A new name has emerged as a potential option for AC Milan as they look to sign a new striker this summer, according to journalist Carlo Pellegatti.

It seems as though Giroud’s time in England could be coming to an end as there are no signs that an extension of his contract – expiring at the end of June – is imminent. If anything, there are widespread rumours that Thomas Tuchel is keen on adding a world class striker for next season which would push the Frenchman even further towards the exit door.

Giroud has featured in over 250 games in the Premier League between spells with Arsenal and Chelsea and brings with him a vast amount of experience both at international level and in elite competitions such as the Champions League.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the well-known journalist Pellegatti talked about who the new striker together with Ibrahimovic for next season could be, with Giroud’s name confirmed as an option.

“Milan have invested in Zlatan Ibrahimovic but it is clear that they will buy another striker. The team had problems in the second round for a reason: Ibrahimovic scored 12 goals in the first leg, while in the second leg, given the many absences, he scored 3 goals,” he said (via MilanNews).

“We already know that Ibrahimovic will not play many games but we know very well his importance. Zlatan Ibrahimovic will have a co-owner. The name of Icardi has been mentioned but he could be more of an opportunity at the end of the market. Impossible instead, according to what comes to me from Casa Milan, the acquisition of Vlahovic because Gattuso made his name as a starting point from Fiorentina.

“The other day a name emerged from the British media and I asked for confirmation on this rumour: the name is that of Olivier Giroud. The rumours from London are confirmed and there is not only Milan but also Inter and Lazio on the player. He is the centre-forward of the French national team, he is intact and has scored 100 goals in the French national team. He made his name a few years ago for Milan but then the Rossoneri went to Bacca.

“Today he plays for Chelsea but should leave the club on a free transfer given the expiry of his contract on 30 June 2021. Milan are looking for a free transfer immediately ready, the one they could not find with Mandzukic. From what I understand Giroud could be a plausible and possible acquisition for Milan and could be the co-owner for 2-3 years in Milan. He is a charismatic player, with a great physique and who could be very useful to Milan.”

  1. Vastly better than Mandzukic. If the finances are right, he could be a good 3rd option (or 2nd while Ibra is injured, which will be 70% of the season).

  2. Milan doesn’t need old players, We have enough old forwards Ibrahimovic and Mandzukic. It would be humiliating to take another old player.

    1. I agree Maldini and Co must be out of there minds if they are going to sign another old man

The most important battle next will be Pioli & Gasper the Juve tifoso
