Pessina admits to feeling ‘great regret’ at how his Milan career turned out

By Oliver Fisher -

Monza playmaker Matteo Pessina has admitted to feeling regret about the way that his time at AC Milan ended up working out.

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at Milan but he never made an appearance in a competitive game having seen his path to the senior side blocked by the presence of more established starters and also because a 4-3-3 formation was in vogue at the time.

As a result, he left in 2017 as a part of the deal that saw Andrea Conti join the Rossoneri from Atalanta, making the move to Bergamo as a counterpart. He joined Monza over the summer – the city he is from – and he has carved out a key role so far.

Pessina is in the starting line up and will play as part of the two attacking midfielders behind the centre-forward, and he spoke to DAZN before the game. He was asked about his past at Milan, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

On his past at Milan: “It is a great regret not having been able to play official matches with the Milan shirt. Now I am happy to represent my city as a captain.”

On Galliani: “Yesterday he arrived for dinner, he looked at us and said: ‘I’m not telling you anything’.”
