AC Milan have struggled in the league this season, currently sitting in eighth place, but they could be handed a lifeline thanks to how Italian teams have performed in Europe. Indeed, Serie A could secure a fifth spot again.
Since last season, when qualification was decided for the current Champions League campaign, two associations have been handed an extra spot. This is decided by how the teams of the association perform in European competitions, with the key being to go far.
Italy and Germany secured an additional spot last season, meaning Serie A sent five teams to the competition, and the same could happen this season. According to Nils Mackay of Opta, Serie A currently has a 76.2% probability of securing an additional spot.
Who gets a bonus Champions League ticket next season?
Only 3 countries with a good shot:
🏴 not with the greatest week but still very likely to make top 2
🇮🇹 increase their odds to 76%
🇪🇸 the only other country still with a realistic shot🇵🇹 folds after a terrible week (4L) pic.twitter.com/9LAboLA4iH

The Premier League (England) is the most likely to secure one with a probability of 76.2%, while La Liga (Spain) is the only realistic contender in the race with a probability of 24%. For Milan, securing that extra spot could obviously be very important.
Sergio Conceicao’s men have fallen behind the top rivals and a really good run will be needed to finish top four, but top five is much more feasible. Still, it’s a mountain to climb and the addition of Santiago Gimenez could perhaps help a lot.
Keep the same energy when you fired Maldini for finishing 5th and getting to CL semifinal.
If Juve and Roma don’t f up we are guaranteed a 5th spot. Reduces also the pressure on Sergio.
Santi Gimenez, Walker, Frendrup and one of Galeno/Pepe/Malick Fofana/Noa Lang (for the opposite wing to cover Leao) would fix this mess of a squad… and give us good chances for reaching later stages of UCL
removing RLC, Okafor, Emerson (2nd choice in Serie A, while Calabria in UCL), but we would then need 1 more international player spot to fix UCL registration…
Noa Lang is what they call in Dutch: an ‘engnek’
why is he a creep?
Still Juventus and Lazio are above Milan.
Milan is not able to win at least 2 game in a row.
Milan must reach at least 70 points to have small chances in top 5….
Lazio is 4th… Fiorentina and Bologna in the long term are not gonna outdo us and Juve will have a tough February, including the fact that we have 1 less game in Serie A… people need to be less dramatic
So, we can win maximum europa league, if you are correct…
5th place will be very difficult, probably 6th this time.
If we make the mistake of targeting fifth place then we will most certainly miss out on CL places one way or another.
The key would be to fix the summer mistakes (SMH) and strengthen the squad massively. Walker has come, Gimenez AND Joao Felix should follow. Then I don’t think we can sign a good midfielder, so just have to hope Bennacer hit top form.
Other linked players are not good enough, while all the players linked with departures can leave, as they are all average players.
Why do you keep using this “Milan smile” collocation? The sounds so dumb.
A picture of Furlani’s retarded face comes to mind.

This is nonsense. Don’t play games anymore, just predict outcomes on a computer. Are you not entertained?
