Olivier Giroud has been an important player for AC Milan in 2022 as he has been able to cover for the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in style. In fact, the numbers prove that his debut season has been positive thus far.
Some doubts emerged when Giroud decided to take the No.9 shirt but it’s clear, in hindsight, that he hasn’t been bothered by the ‘curse’. In 16 appearances, he has found the back of the net seven times. If we add Coppa Italia to that, it’s ten goals in 18 performances.
It should be noted that he has played just nine of the 16 league appearances from start. In today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport, Giroud was compared with a few former Milan No.9s based on their debut seasons for the club. As the numbers show, he has a better record than George Weah currently.
