Pioli reiterates ‘game by game’ motto and assures De Ketelaere is ‘confident’ amid full debut

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli has stressed that his team are taking things game by game and Charles De Ketelaere is confident ahead of his first start.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia ahead of the match against Bologna on Saturday night (via Milan News), the Rossoneri coach refused to look at the big picture and was only concerned with the job in hand.

“We always focus on ourselves. We think match by match. The level of the Italian league requires maximum concentration and quality performances against an opponent that has already created difficulties for us in the past. We will have to be good at trying to make them run a lot.”

Belgian attacker De Ketelaere will be making his first ever start for the club having made the move from Club Brugge. He has been limited to appearances from the bench so far since his arrival.

Pioli said that the player is confident and calm ahead of his first taste of starting for Milan at San Siro.

“I talked about the match with the whole team. I see he is very calm and confident with his teammates. I don’t think we’ll need any particular encouragement.”

When asked how his team will be approaching the match against the Rossoblu, Pioli said that they want to play with their own ideas and make Bologna react to them.

“It’s a Milan side that wants to play the game, that wants to try to play with their own ideas and their own characteristics. We know that the balance of a team is very important, we work hard on this and we hope to have it tonight.”
