Pioli confirms Milan ‘are not looking’ for a Calhanoglu type to reinforce playmaker role

Hakan Calhanoglu parted ways with AC Milan at the beginning of the summer and decided to sign for city rivals Inter. And while the Rossoneri are looking for a new playmaker, they are not looking for a similar type.

During today’s press conference, on the eve of the clash between Milan and Sampdoria, Stefano Pioli was asked about the situation regarding the playmaker role. With just over a week left of the transfer window, they are yet to find a new player.

This question was fueled by the fact that Calhanoglu scored one goal and assisted another in Inter’s opener against Genoa yesterday. Pioli, however, made it clear that they are not looking for a Hakan-esque type for the role.

Calhanoglu was the protagonist with Inter. Is the need for a playmaker even more evident?

“We are not looking for a similar player but we want to improve the team. The club is very present and if there is the possibility of intervening, the management will intervene. We already have players who can give ideas in the complicated moments of a match.”

The game between Milan and Sampdoria is scheduled for 20:45 CEST and will take place at Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa. The Rossoneri, of course, want to start the season in the best way possible.
