Pioli believes Dinamo Zagreb’s atmosphere will be ‘more motivating and stimulating’ for Milan – video

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has warned his side that they await a very tough test against Dinamo Zagreb tomorrow night in Croatia.

Milan lost both games against Chelsea which has complicated their chances of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League but it is still in their hands, with games against Dinamo and Red Bull Salzburg (at home) to come and two wins enough to guarantee progress.

Pioli spoke to the official club channel on the eve of the game to preview the fixture.

On the hostile environment of Dinamo’s Maksimir stadium: “Playing in a warm environment is more motivating and stimulating than in other situations: it will give further energy to our opponents but there will also be our fans. We know that to overcome certain challenges you need to have that character and that mentality to stay focused on our game.”

On Dinamo: “A team that defends well and starts off very well. He has a very good player like Petkovic who gets the team up and another player like Orsic who is very fast. Being compact and composed in defensive and attacking transitions is important for tomorrow night.”

On the form of Milan: “We are doing well. Of course we have some ailments but we are fine mentally and physically. We know the importance of the match and we have prepared it as best we can.”
