Pioli discusses versatile Krunic and reveals why he is ‘not worried’ about Donnarumma’s renewal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has claimed that he is not worried about the renewal of star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

It has been reported for months now how the Rossoneri face a crossroads regarding the future of their prized young goalkeeper, just as they did back in 2017.

With his deal set to run out Milan must either agree a renewal or they risk losing him for free, with Juventus, Real Madrid, PSG and Chelsea all linked by various outlets.

On the pitch though Donnarumma continues to show that the uncertainty surrounding his future is not affecting him, having kept three clean sheets in four Serie A games so far this campaign.

During the pre-match press conference ahead of Monday’s visit of Roma, Pioli was asked about Donnarumma and his renewal.

”Donnarumma is a boy older than his age. His growth is there from all points of view, from nutrition to attention to detail,” he said (via MilanLive).

“He is already of the highest level, but he must continue like this. I am satisfied with his growth. I am not worried about the future because I see he is peaceful. The club are working in a certain direction.”

Pioli was also asked about Rade Krunic, a player who has shown his adaptability as he was deployed as the playmaker against Celtic, scoring his first goal for the club.

“Krunic has characteristics that allow him to be our attacking midfielder. He must be capable of attacking spaces. I am happy for Rade, we have tried certain situations and it is nice that they are seen in the match.”
