AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli believes that Inter can be beaten and that his team can overturn the two-goal deficit that they face tomorrow night.
Milan have it all to do if they are to reach the final in Istanbul after they lost the first leg of the semi-final on Wednesday night, with Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan scoring in the opening 11 minutes to give the Nerazzurri a 2-0 advantage.
Pioli spoke to Milan TV the day before the game to give his thoughts ahead of what is another historic night for the club.
“All that matters is preparing the team as best as possible, in tactical technical, motivational and physical terms. We have to win the game and play as well as we can,” he began.
“It will be difficult and a hard-fought encounter as this game will give one of the two teams the chance to reach the final. It will definitely be tough and we know that we’ll have to raise our game.
“We shouldn’t think that we’ll have to pull off a sensational and unique feat. We have done it before and we know what is required in these types of games.
“From the first to the 95th minute we’ll have to believe it can be done, Inter can be beaten and we can overturn the two-goal deficit even if it’s a tall order.
“Whatever we say today only carries so much importance. It all comes down to what we manage to do on the field, that applies to the other side.
“Needless to say our aim is to fare a lot better than the first leg. Whether from the starting XI or off the bench we need match-winners, we’ll have to turn every possible situation to our advantage so as to beat Inter.
“Each one of us has to believe that he can be pivotal for the final outcome of the tie. That’s the determination and the mentality we must take into the game.”
