Pioli explains selection choices vs. Dinamo: “More compactness and attacking quality”

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has justified his decision to pick such an attacking starting line-up by stating it is an attempt to show the team’s greater quality.

Pioli spoke to Sky Italia before the game to explain the thinking behind his team selection and also to give some insight into what he expects from tonight’s opponents.

“It will have to be a match worthy of Milan. It will be difficult, decisive for getting past this round. We prepared for it in the best possible way,” he said (via MilanNews).

Could it be De Ketelaere’s night?

“It must be the night of Milan. Then it is clear that the qualities of the individuals are evident and our attacking men could give us some more solutions.”

What Dinamo do you expect?

“In all the games Dinamo waited and started on the counter-attack. We lined up these players to have more compactness and attacking quality. Let’s see if it will be the right choice. This is almost a knockout game. I have a lot of faith in my players. The team is focused and aware of the opportunity.”

Milan will obviously take the field with three points in mind as they want everything in their own hands for the final game against Salzburg. At the time of writing, Chelsea are ahead vs. Salzburg and that is positive for the Rossoneri.

However, Pioli’s men will have to get the job done against Dinamo first and foremost. It’s a rather attacking-minded XI with Rebic playing as a right-winger, as opposed to Junior Messias who also is available.
