Pioli explains why he decided to renew his Milan contract: “I see a future path”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has spoken about why he decided to extend his contract with the club and the room for growth he foresees.

Pioli was a guest at the University of Milano this afternoon for the first ‘All around soccer’ meeting, and he was asked about what the next step is for the Rossoneri after he extended terms recently, with his comments relayed by Di Marzio.

“The aim with Milan is to continue to grow both in Italy and in Europe. Because we are Milan, because we are a top club. After the Scudetto I found the most determined team. If I renewed it is because I see a future path for a team that can move up.”

In a statement on the club’s official website last month the Rossoneri confirmed that Pioli has put pen to paper on a contract until 30 June 2025, with his previous deal having been set to expire at the end of the current season.

It is a fitting reward for Pioli who has led Milan on an upward journey since his arrival early in the 2019-20 season, with the first achievement being a return to European football which was followed by qualifying for the Champions League and then winning the Scudetto last season.
